Taste the unique 'Corso Koninkje' pastry of Varend Corso!

Category: Hospitality & Gastronomy

This pastry was created from a collaboration between Westland bakers and the also Westland company Koppert Cress. This pastry is available from 7 June 2024 at four bakers and symbolises Westland's cooperation and creativity.

Westland cooperation, and creativity

The 'Corso Koninkje' is made especially for the annual Varend Corso Westland. Using ingredients from the Koppert Cress greenhouses, the bakers jointly developed a delicious pastry. This pastry is available from 7 June at the four bakers and symbolises Westland's cooperation and creativity.

The four Westland bakers are bakery Scholtes, bakery Paul Schalke, bakery Vreugdenhil and Meesterbakker Remmerswaal-Roodenrijs. Bakers with a large dose of craftsmanship and the typical Westland mentality.

What makes the 'Corso Koninkje', so special?

Not only the special cooperation of the bakers, but also the ingredients that go into it make the pastry special. The Westland-grown vanilla is top quality and the fresh core of lemon curd is made from Limon Cress from Koppert Cress' greenhouses.

‘In any case, we are proud of what we have achieved together with the “Corso Koninkje” and cannot wait to share these flavours and craftsmanship with everyone who visits the unique Westland. It is more than a pastry; it is a symbol of our community and our connectedness,’ said Rob Baan, chairman of the Varend Corso.

"After an inspiring meeting at Koppert Cress, all the bakers got to work with the special ingredients. This led to a joint result: The Corso Royal. We are proud of this collaboration and are immensely looking forward to presenting the pastry to all Westlanders. We hope everyone will enjoy it," says Judith Barendse of one of the participating bakers Remmerswaal-Roodenrijs.
